I don't really like the idea of a quick guide either. You should just figure out what works for you. All the #1 stars of today started when there was no master/student system yet, and look: We're doing pretty well

But your guide is brought as a fact, as the ultimate road. But half of what Choi says is useless. I don't like a quick guide, but I REALLY don't like a wrong, misleading guide. So here's my attempt:

First get a genre skill! When you got that one, then:

Basic Dancing (both on stage and bandrole skill)
Another band role skill (Basic Singing/Lead vocals or Basic String instruments/Electric Guitar for example)
Basic Showmanship
Basic Sex Appeal
Basic Fashion
Basic Make-up

If you want to reach the top as soon as possible, you should start skilling Basic Composing and Basic Lyrics after all the skills mentioned above. Then you'll have to play covers for the first 150 days though, or bad songs written by yourself.
I would advice you to skill the song writing skills earlier though. It's fun to play your own songs and if you bring them out on single they can earn you quite alot of money when you got some fame build up in a few cities. Besides that writing your own lyrics can be funny too of course. You have to be VIP for this though. But it's a great chance to make fun of your bandmates, your big rival or Stephan Adamson ;)

With the 10 skills above you are ready to play some pretty good shows. To reach the #1 spot you will probably need a few extra skills though. But that's really different for everyone. There are many different events which need different skills for example. There is no best method for this, it's just a choice.

And then there are of course the other types of skills. Help the community by learning basic firefighting or become a better CEO with the Basic Economics book. Basic Yoga doesn't improve your show right away, but if you have difficulties keeping your health up this really is a must have. And perhaps you want to pass on your knowledge to the next generation. Then Basic teaching is what you need. There are a million options and none of them is the best or the worst.

Playing shows is of course the most important and cool thing in the game for most people. When you just start you got nothing to lose. Really nothing! So book a show in your home city right away for the next week. The first monet you earn goes into the genre book. It takes you at least 17 days to learn that to 5 stars. But then you haven't talked to the media in the mean time. I would do that though, because more fame = bigger crowd = more money. As soon as you can afford it you should start playing in other cities. Play shows, meet people, learn from your mistakes! That really is the biggest flaw in Choi's guide. If you follow his instructions you won't play a single show in the first 50 days or so. BORING! Are you here for the fun or is this supposed to look like work where only the result counts? I go for the first option. And since everyone has another definition of fun, writing an "ultimate" guide is pointless...

演出当然对于大多数人来说是意见重要并且很cool的事情。你只要开始行动（演出）就可以了，即使效果不佳，你也不会失去任何东西，真的。所以预定好下周的演出吧。并且练习好你的流派技能（这大概要17天）。当然“和媒体交谈”也很重要，毕竟名声=观众=金钱。如果你能养的起自己，那就开始巡回演出吧。演出并不断纠正自己的错误。如果按照你的指南，那将非常枯燥哦！不要再算来算去了，从第一步做起吧。
